Ministries at BAUMC
Church members are asked to support the church with our prayers, our presence, our gifts, and our service. BAUMC has a number of lay ministry opportunities available that allow us to serve others by sharing God's love in our congregation, community, and world. We would love to have you join one of these groups to share your talents with us in a gift of service!
Board of TrusteesThe Board of Trustees cares for our church property and other assets of the congregation. The group meets the second Tuesday of each month at 6:00 PM.
Church GrowthOur Church Growth committee reaches out through publicity and the Inquirer's class, inviting, welcoming, and assimilating people into the life and ministries of our church. The group meets the first Monday of the month at 7:00 PM.
FinanceThe BAUMC Finance committee develops a giving plan related to the mission and vision of God's Kingdom and our church. They coordinate and manage our six major sources for giving: spontaneous giving, major community worship giving, special planned giving, short-term major project giving, annual budget giving, and enduring giving. This group meets the second Monday of every other month at 6:30 PM, and other times as needed.
Lay ShepherdsThe Lay Shepherds committee at Belgrade Avenue United Methodist Church recruits, trains, and organizes people to visit shut-ins and hospitalized persons, as well as maintains and implements our Prayer Chain. They meet the fourth Thursday of each month at 1:30 PM.
MemorialsOur Memorial committee monitors the process for and advises the Church Council of the expenditure of memorial gifts given to our church. The group meets the second Tuesday of August, November, February, and May at 6:30 PM.
Permanent Trust Fund BoardThis group establishes a plan for giving to the fund in harmony with the mission and vision of the church, and also takes care of and manages all gifts to the Permanent Trust Fund. They meet on the call of the Chairperson at least twice each year.
Wesley Foundation RepresentativeOur Wesley Foundation Representative represents BAUMC on the Board of Directors, which maintains and manages an Endowment Fund for purposes of supporting United Methodist Ministry to and with students and faculty at Minnesota State University, Mankato. They meet in February, May, and October on the last Thursday of the month at 1:00 PM.

Children and Family MinistriesThe Children and Family Ministries group provides ministries for families such as our Nursery, children's fellowship groups (Glory Kids, 1-2-3, 4-5-6), family retreats, an all-church picnic, and camping. They meet the first Wednesday of the month at 6:30 PM.
Council on Youth MinistriesThe Council on Youth Ministries engages in ministries by, with, and for Junior and Senior High youth, and encourages their spiritual development. They meet on Wednesday once a month at 5:00 PM. It is open to all youth of the church (grades 7 through 12) as well as loving and caring adults who would like to guide and assist the youth.
HistoryThe historians of BAUMC gather, preserve, and publicize the records of the life and activities of the congregation.
LibraryThe Library committee organizes, cares for, and promotes the use of library books and materials. The group meets on the first Monday of each month at 6:30 PM.
MusicThis group plans and coordinates the use of vocal and bell choirs, our brass / woodwinds / strings ensemble, and special music. They also assist in securing organists and leadership for musical groups. The Music Ministries committee meets the third Tuesday of each month at 6:45 PM.
Staff Parish Relations (SPR)The SPR committee confers and counsels with the pastors and staff in order to provide effective ministry, interprets staff needs and concerns to the congregation, and advises the Church Council and the District Superintendent of issues pertaining to the employed staff. They meet on the fourth Monday of each month at 7:00 PM.
United Christian Ministry RepresentativeOur United Christian Ministry Representative represents BAUMC on the Board of Directors, which supervises and supports the work of Campus Ministry at Minnesota State University, Mankato. They meet on the third Thursday of each month at noon.
Tech TeamThe BAUMC Tech Team manages and maintains the church technology equipment such as TVs, computers, printers, and the audio/visual system in the Sanctuary. They meet at the call of the Chairperson several times per year and assist with problems as needed.
Church CouncilThe governing body of BAUMC is our Church Council, which consists of the chairpersons from each of our committees and organizations, as well as members at large, the pastors, a secretary, and a chairperson. They meet on the second Tuesday each month at 7:30 PM.

Children's EducationThe Children's Education group plans and organizes the Sunday morning educational program for our children up through sixth grade, plus our summer Vacation Bible School. The group meets the third Wednesday of each month at 7:30 PM.
Discipleship and StewardshipThis group offers opportunities for spiritual formation and active faith development for adults. They assist the congregation in the identification and use of their "God-given" talents, in advancing the generosity of their giving, and in the conservation of natural resources as stewards of God's creation. The committee meets the third Sunday of January, April, July, and October at 3:00 PM.
Lay Leadership / NominationsThe Lay Leadership / Nominations group at BAUMC recruits, trains, and supports the laity giving ministry and leadership within the congregation. They meet the fourth Tuesday of each month at 7:00 PM.
Long Range PlanningThe goal of the Long Range Planning group is to help Belgrade Avenue United Methodist Church develop a vision and set goals for dynamic spiritual growth. They meet the fourth Thursday of January, April, July, and October at noon.
OutreachThe BAUMC Outreach committee informs the congregation about and involves us all in mission ministries on a local, state, national, and international scope. Their goal is to relate our church to social issues which allow us to live out our Social Principles, as well as to encourage dialogue and fellowship with other Christian faiths and cultures. This group meets on the second Tuesday of the month at 6:30 PM.
WorshipOur Worship committee plans for vital worship for children, youth, and adults which will assist them in an encounter with the living God through the risen Christ, in the power of the Holy Spirit. They provide a process for recruiting, training, and supporting the ministries of ushers, greeters, communion servers, readers, and visuals coordinators. The group meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 6:30 PM.
CROP RepresentativeOur CROP Representative represents BAUMC on the Board of Directors, which plans and organizes the annual Crop Walk to feed the hungry in the world. They meet a few times each year at the call of the Chairperson.
